Karachi Northern Bypass
With the growing demands of the Karachi sea port traffic and with a view to provide relief to the urban congestion within the Karachi city, NHA undertook the design and feasibility of Karachi Northern Bypass connecting the Karachi Sea Port with a provision to remodel the ICI intersection. The project included an upgradation of the existing N-25 (Approximately 18km) through to a Six Lane exit/entry facility. Within the city an elevated expressway was also provided. The total project length connecting Karachi Sea Port and M-9 Motorway was measured as 54km.
However, the project is shelved for now since an elevated expressway within the Lyari Nullah is being considered to provide shortest and cost-effective solution to provide excess controlled expressway connecting Motorway M-9.
